Snow Day Hooky

We went to San Diego today.  No, not that San Diego. We went to this San Diego:

Can you guess what we did?

I’m just warming-up here…

We played hooky from school and had a snow day.  S packed us a lovely lunch and we headed for Jemez.  It was beautiful and cold and snowy and, well, we had our picnic on the tailgate of my truck because it was just that cold.  It wasn’t so bad if you stood in the sun while eating your peanut butter and jam sammich and Ruffles.

After we ate, went potty, and attempted to put on our gloves (D-Man sooooo does not understand the concept of fingers in the finger places and needs mittens), we started into the woods.  We didn’t go very far…

And then I saw them… As they creeped out of the men’s room. Ack!!  Attacked!!!

And, of course, I then pummeled them:

(Check out that form!  Wow.  Check out my bu… Oh, ahem, nevermind.)

Oh, no, you cannot hide, Mister!

Go ahead and try and throw that hunk under-handed, Mister.  You couldn’t hit the side of a barn!

Oh, you think that’s funny?  You want a piece of it, too?

He laughs the most when you hit him square on top of his head.

Oh… well, look what happens when you hit Miss Natalie in the face with a hard snowball:

Yep.  You die.

You cannot get me!  I have my hood up and my cloaking device engaged!

It was seriously some great fun and a beautiful trip.

Q was neutered today so that was the days’ topper. We picked him up on the way home from Jemez.  It was a simple reminder of how you can be cruisin’ through your day thinkin’ it was gonna go one way when, whoosh!  Suddenly you’re in a cage gettin’ your nuts cut off.

Let that be a lesson to you, boys….

hahahahaha!

Better than the Santa threat… I’m tellin’ ya!

Of course, I’m just kidding but it was an entertaining thought when they started to get cranky on the ride home.

All in all it was a wonderful day in the neighborhood and we all delighted in the snow, the mountains, the thin air (“Dude, if you suck in the cold air really fast, it makes you dizzy!”), and each other.

Then we came home, ate waffles for dinner, and made a special holiday card video for everyone.

Keep an eye out… it’s a doozy!

It’s starting to look a lot like Chrissssssssssssssstmas!

  1. Great photos and look at all that snow. I think I most shocked at how much the boys are growing though.

OK, now I have to find a map and figure out where Jemez is – excuse my SW USA ignorance…

We have to get our winter coats out – heading to Canada Tuesday – we’ll be in Edmonton for about 10 days – I’m sure they’ll be some majorly cold weather come through there at some point. Talk about sucking cold air in til you get dizzy – this kind of cold air brings new meaning to dizzy….can you say frozensnot…..snot pretty, let me tell ya.

  2. I most shocked…I like that – I won’t even bother to correct it….

  3. Oh man….THAT is a fun day. You and S are the BEST moms EVER!!!! Nothing like a good snowball fight.

  4. Oh, I missed all the fun!
